Ever thought about hosting a Sesame Street birthday party? I have some great ideas for you!
This idea comes from my sister-in-law, Helen. Actually, all my sister-in-laws are awesome. There’s Morgan, who gives me all my mom fashion tips. Julianne is pretty much the nicest person God ever created. And then there’s Helen, whose ingenuity and amazing taste would impress Martha Stewart.
On our recent family trip to the beach, Helen put together (with help from Julianne) one of the most impressive parties I’ve ever attended.
And it was for a two-year-old!
Helen gave me permission to hijack her creativity for my blog. I couldn’t resist sharing pictures of this adorable party. If you have a little one who’s interested in Sesame Street, these ideas are terrific. You may not be Helen or (Martha Stewart) and pull together all of these touches, but just a few here and there would work, too! My adorable little niece, Reagan, just loved this party, as did my kids! Enjoy the pictures!
And, if you’re a real-life friend of my mine, this is yet another reminder to watch your back. You might just end up an example on my blog.
Invitations. A few weeks before, we received this cutie in the mail.
The party info was on the back. Helen used this resource which she found on Pinterest. She basically used cardstock, scissors, and glue to replicate these images. Luckily, it was a small party, so she only had to make a few.
Party hats.
Yes, they made all these. From scatch. Themselves. There were eight total…Helen found the ideas on this blog site. Wish I could have captured them all. Aren’t they just amazing? At the party, Ty, my two-year-old, was very fussy, so he wore Oscar the Grouch. I found that hilarious. Well, as funny as something can be when your two-year-old is grouchy.

Aren’t these they just the cutest? There are plenty of images for these ideas on Pinterest. Most of them used fruit or Ranch dip for the eyes, but Helen was kind enough to switch to marshmellows because my son, Sam, is allergic to dairy. I think Big Bird’s nose was cheese cubes, as well, but she used pineapple. The black in Elmo and Oscar are olives, but in the fruit trays, they are blueberries.
The games. Scattered around the room were some adorable little “stations” for games. The kids had a blast! Helen got these ideas from this blog post she found on Pinterest. Here were some games:
Count With the Count – My little nieces loves to count, so there was a counting station. 🙂 ps – Notice the little “123 Reagan Street” icon, with my niece’s name on it?

Oscar’s Trash Toss
Cookie Toss – Helen planned to make a little tossing game, but found this one on clearance at the store Tuesday Morning, which she loves!
Bubbles – Helen actually painted these things on the bubbles containers. I know, right? Here’s where she got the ideas. If you weren’t quite that crafty, like, say, 99% percent of the world’s mothers, I imagine you could use stickers, printed pictures, or, um, just plain bubbles. Don’t tell Helen I said that, though.
